The antique map titled ‘Nova Et Accvrata Comitatvs Et Ditionis Alostanae… Tabvla’ was created in 1665 and depicts the region of Aalst in Belgium. Aalst was an important city in the early 17th century, known for its textile production and trade. The region was largely rural, with small towns and villages scattered throughout. The landscape was characterised by rolling hills, forests and farmland. The central locations of Hundelgem, Velzeke-Ruddershove and Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove are highlighted on the map, giving an indication of the region’s key landmarks.
